These easy mummy dogs are a classic Halloween recipe that make a great Halloween dinner, or a fun addition to a Halloween party!
These cute and simple mummy dogs have been one of my kids’ favorites since they were little. It’s a fun Halloween spin on the classic pigs in a blanket turning regular hot dogs into mummy hot dogs by wrapping them in crescent roll dough.
This is one of those super easy, kid-friendly recipes that is guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone’s faces whether you serve them as a cute but creepy appetizer at this year’s Halloween party, or you bake them as a special Halloween dinner before everyone heads out trick-or-treating.
Have a kid who prefers a cheese pizza to hot dogs? Give these simple Halloween baked cheese mummies a try! They are like little Halloween pizza bites 🙂
And for dessert you can make this simple baked Halloween S’mores dip or some Witch’s Brew Brownies (these are a great way to use up leftover Halloween candy too!)

Ingredients
- Hot Dogs – Use your favorite hot dogs!
- Crescent roll dough – We use the Pillsbury crescent roll dough sold in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. You can buy the kind that has perforations in it or the kind that is one solid rectangle of dough.
- Edible eyes – this candy is optional but the kids love it!
These mummified hotdogs are so simple to make, all you need are some hot dogs, crescent roll dough, and a few candy eyes.
How to Make Mummy Dogs
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Open your crescent roll package and unroll the dough so that it is a horizontal rectangle. Press on the perforations to seal them together (if you bought the perforated kind).
- Cut the dough into 1/4 inch wide strips that go from the top of the dough to the bottom so they are nice and long.
- Wrap the pieces of dough around each hot dog creating “bandages” by stretching the dough slightly and letting it overlap and criss-cross. You don’t completely cover the hot dog, leave gaps so it looks like a mummy peeking out from its bandages.
- Place each wrapped hot dog on a baking sheet and then bake for 10-12 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and hot dogs are warmed through.
- Remove from the oven and place a small dot of ketchup or mustard on the back of your candy eyes and add 2 to each mummy dog.
Note: If you don’t have candy eyes handy you can draw eyes on by adding a a couple of dots of ketchup or mustard to the mummy dog where the eyes would go.
How to Make Them Ahead of Time
Every year my kids get excited about eating Halloween mummies for dinner. I usually make them ahead of time, wrapping the hot dogs up in dough during the day when the kids are at school and then popping them in the oven while we do homework. Halloween dinner couldn’t be any easier!
If you want to give your kids a special treat at school make and bake these ahead of time and pack them in their lunch. You can even cut them in half for a smaller version that will easily fit in a lunch container!

Definitely kid friendly and easy to make hot dogs. They like chunky solid food. What you need to do is make a jug Cinnamon stick tea after they imbibe on their haul of sweets It will settle the stomach from eating too much candy. Did you know the incidence of sickness spikes after Halloween and Christmas. All due to sugar. Cinnamon will reduce the sugar effect.

I’ve been making these mummy hot dogs every year on Halloween, before we Trick or Treat. So good and easy!

These are so easy and my picky two year old loved them. Ketsup doesn’t show up so we were stuck using mustard for eyes. My munchkin doesn’t know what a mummy is so we called these sick hotdogs with bandages and he watched mommy put the bandages on like Doc McStuffins.
