Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended and investigated a number of unrelated collisions over the weekend.
Peterborough Man Charged Following MVC (No Name Released)
On July 19, 2024, at approximately 6:50 p.m., police received a report regarding a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 westbound in the Township of Cramahe. There were no injuries reported. A 36-year-old, from Peterborough, has been charged with:
– Follow too closely
– Fail to surrender insurance card.
Kitchener Man Charged Following MVC (No Name Released)
On July 19, 2024, at approximately 8:08 p.m., officers responded to a tractor trailer reported to be on it’s side on Telephone Road in the Township of Cramahe. There were no injuries reported by the driver.
A 23-year-old, from Kitchener, has been charged with:
– Careless driving.
MVC Campbellford
On July 20, 2024, at approximately 2:10 p.m., OPP attende d a non-injury collision involving two-vehicles which occurred on a commercial premises on Front St North in Campbellford. There are no charges at this time.
Peterborough Man Charged Following MVC (Name Released)
On July 21, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m., a member of the public reported a single vehicle collision on County Road 41 in the Municipality of Brighton. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were also dispatched. Police arrived to find a passenger vehicle on it’s roof in the ditch. Minor injuries were reported. Following speaking with the driver, police made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further testing.
Jeffrey HENDERSON, 60-years-old, from Peterborough, has been charged with:
– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
Brighton Youth Charged Following MVC
On July 21, 2024, at approximately 4:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a collision involving a pick-up truck and a passenger vehicle on County Road 30 in the Municipality of Brighton. EMS and the Municipality of Brighton Fire Department also attended where one of the involved vehicles was on it’s roof. Minor injuries were reported as two passengers were transported to a local hospital.
A 17-year-old, from Brighton, has been charged with:
– Disobey stop sign – fail to stop
– Careless driving.
Motorcycle MVC Port Hope
On July 21, 2024, shortly before 5:00 p.m., OPP received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle on County Road 28 in the Municipality of Port Hope. EMS and the Municipality of Port Hope Fire Department also responded where the motorcycle operator was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening in juries. This investigation is on-going and no charges have been laid as yet.
Montreal Driver Charged Careless Driving (No Name Released)
On July 21, shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 401 westbound in the Township of Cramahe. There were no injuries reported and a 51-year-old driver from Montreal has been charged with:
– Careless driving.
Colborne Man Charge Following MVC (No Name Released)
On July 21, at approximately 9:30 p.m., OPP received a report of a collision at a business premises in the Township of Cramahe. The complainant advised that a pick-up truck had collided with a gas pump and left the area. Police began an investigation into the matter and later spoke to involved parties.
As a result, an 18-year-old, from Colborne, has been charged with:
– Fail to remain
– Fail to report accident
– Fail to have insurance card
– Careless driving.
Additionally, a 36-year-old, from Colborne, has been charged with:
– Fail to remain
– Accompanying driver fail to provide breath sample
– Occupant – fail to report accident.
