Lucky Accident~Walker Scobell - XVIII (2024)

"So Jessie left, huh?" Caleb said. He had come over the Martinez residence. "Yeah, this Sunday." Celine Marie said. "Hey, thank you for coming over." Celine Marie said. "Yeah, of course," Caleb said. "I feel like I owe you an explanation." Celine Marie said.

"See... It's like driving, okay? I can imagine myself doing it and it's fine, and then I get behind the shell and completely freeze up. Then I just don't know what to do." Celine Marie said. "Okay... I don't follow." Caleb said. "Let me start over," Celine Marie laughed nervously.

"You were the first boy I ever really liked. Everyone else, all the other letter, were born out of fantasy. But yours was based off of actually knowing you. And I guess I didn't realize how I felt about you until you became Jessie's boyfriend. Over time that feeling just faded away, and I missed my best friend. And it wasn't love." Celine Marie said.

"Why didn't you just tell me that? I feel like I'd have understood." Caleb said. "Well, I couldn't. I didn't know until Walker." Celine Marie said. "Right. Walker." Caleb said.

"It was real in a different way." Celine Marie said, "And I'm really sorry."
"No tease on to be sorry, it's like, I think I know where you're coming from. It's kinda how it was with Jessie and I. Y'know, minus all the fake stuff." Caleb said. "Did you stop loving Jessie after she broke up with you?" Celine Marie said.

"No. Not at first. At some point it changed. The longer she was gone, the more I understood why she ended it." Caleb said. "Do you feel the same way about Walker?" the 17 year old asked. "I know you don't like him." Celine Marie said.

"I like how he stood up for you today. He should've done it a lot sooner, but then again, he's a jock, they're slow learners." Caleb said. "You're such a snob" Celine Marie laughed.

"Yeah. Look, if you miss him, why don't you just tell him?" Caleb asked. "I can't" Celine Marie said. "And why's that?" Caleb asked. "Because if it wasn't real the I didn't lose anyone. But if I say that is was real, and he still doesn't want me..." Celine Marie said.

"Then at least you'll know. Celine Marie, you gotta tell people how you feel when you feel it. You can't just sit up in your room writing love letters you're never gonna send. Walker wouldn't even be in your life if they hadn't gotten out in the first place." Caleb said.

"Yeah you definitely have a point. I don't know, I'm just so tired of writing love letters. It'd be nice to be the one receiving them." Celine Marie said. "Celine Marie, I have something for you." Aliah said coming out of nowhere. She handed her sister her teal circular box with a bow on the top center. "Don't kill me. It's just, you were always throwing those away, and I thought they were something you should keep." Aliah said.

When Celine Marie opened the box, there was all the letters that Walker had written to her. "You saved all these?" Celine Marie asked. Aliah nodded. Celine Marie began reading them.

'Celine Marie, everyone was so impressed by your presentation in lit, but especially me. I love having a smarty pants fake girlfriend.'

'It's so cool how we can talk to each other about real stuff.'

'You looked so pretty today.'

"You still think you haven't gotten a love letter?" Caleb asked.

Celine Marie got into her car. She took many deep breaths, preparing herself for the drive. She started the ignition.

She pulled into the school parking lot and marched to the lacrosse field.

Everyone else was leaving practice but she had her eyes focused on the boy by the net. As she got closer, her speed slowed down. "Hey," Walker said. "Hi, I have to tell you something." Celine Marie said. "Okay," Walker said.

"I drove here," Celine Marie said. "Really? Wow, that's uh... that's great, congrats." Walker said. "Thanks!" Celine Marie said, she then nervously spun around and was about to walk away.

"Woah woah woah." Walker said causing the girl to turn back around. "What's that in your hand," Walker said pointing to a piece of paper. "Nothing," Celine Marie said. "Oh, it's nothing?" Walker asked tilting his head.

"Can you turn around so I can read it?" Celine Marie asked. He nodded and complied. "Dear Walker, I need you to know that..."She trailed off.

The girl tapped his shoulder, causing him to turn around. "I need you to know that I love you, Walker Scobell. And not in a fake way." Celine Marie said, "And so I guess that's all I came here to say." She was about to walk away.

"Wait, don't I get to say something?" Walker said, "The reason that I went to Jenny's room that night, was to tell her that it's over. Because... Because I'm in love with you Celine Marie. Only you." Walker said. Celine Marie smiled. "Wait, how do we do this?" Celine Marie asked.

"What do you mean?" Walker said. "What do you put into a contract for a real relationship?" Celine Marie asked. "Nothing," Walker chuckled, "You gotta trust."

"You gonna break my heart, Martinez?" Walker asked. She shook her head. The two then leant in for a kiss. It was sweet. It was love. It was real.

Celine Marie had always fantasized about falling in love in a field, but she just never thought it'd be the kind where you played lacrosse.
