I was 12 years old the first time I visited New York City with my aunt and sister. The sheer magnitude of the city left me breathless. My grandfather was born and raised in the city and I have visited countless times over the past 30 years. To say that I am excited and grateful to work with the Alliance for Downtown New York alongside some of the best and brightest in my industry (looking at you Josh Yeager and David Romako) is an understatement. It has been three years since launching Starkey Strategies. While it hasn't been perfect, it's been better than I could have imagined. The journey has included huge professional and personal growth, learning opportunities, new relationships, challenges and most of all - proof that your tribe matters. The International Downtown Association's annual conference in Chicago last week reminded me of that and energized me with fresh perspectives, creative ideas and connections with potential new clients and partners. A heartfelt thanks to all the people in the photos below (and those that I did not have a chance to snap one with) that have been rooting for me since day one. With every day that goes by the support of my place making tribe and circle of friends propels me forward in ways I never thought possible.
